tuaw.com — While everyone else seems to be jumping on the Disco bandwagon, I'm hopping off. Disco is a CD/DVD burning app that positions itself as a viable, better-looking and much less expensive replacement for Roxio's Toast. After spending a week with Disco, I am once again hungry for Toast.

I downloaded and tested the beta...and I've burned my first coaster in a long while. Cool.

Disco, aside from eye-candy features, has a couple nice features. It tracks what you have burned, cool for the bird-brained. But, no multiple copy jobs. No, multiple burner jobs. And the UI is pretty visually but messy in how it is organized. Dragon Burn still wins the OSX burner feature war. Burning to multiple burners for one job is just damn handy. Burning 2 copies of a job at once and trolling Digg is bliss. GTD w/ style.

I like how you got buried for recommending a good piece of software. That's democracy for ya.

Because Disco is a Mac app and this guy is suggesting a Windows app. It's technically off topic.

If you phone Apple regarding any types of issues with your DVD player including but not limited to errors such as "Your DVD Burner is not Supported" when opening iDVD (this happened to me on a MacBook Pro, they will as you if you have Toast installed.Toast apparently causes know issues on Macs with various other software that uses your burner.

"WTF is up with Apple's failure to include even a half-assed authoring app with its OS, when its computers have been shipping with burners for how many years now?"But the one built into Windows XP is surely MUCH worse?

For all I know, anything on a mac has to be about usability, stability, and eye-candy. And I should emphacize on the 'eye-candy'. Windows is all about crashes and bugs and ugly-looking, complicated stuff. Those who like tons of functions in a single app should switch to windows lollz. Personally I'm loving the way Disco is shaping up, even though I have a Macbook (not Pro) and won't get the smoke effects... Peace and respect to all Toast lovers out there. Me I love the DiscooOooOOoo. Yeah Baby!
