DirecTV Increasing Prices on 3/1/2006

It's all true. . . a lot of changes happen on March 1st including something about changing "mirroring fees" to "Lease fees" so that even though you still have to buy your equipment, you still don't own it and have to return it even when you cancel. I have a training on the details for it either next week or the week after. The comments on the link tend to make you disbeleive it for a while, but it's all true, as you can tell by the end...(yeah, I'm a CSR for DTV)

Keep in mind Cable and Dish are upping (or already have increased) thier prices too.The major reason for the price increase is from the channels charging more...Take a look at some of the examples of how much some of these channels currently cost (taken from the forum):Fox News is .28880 per sub.FX is .40500 per subESPN is $3.8479TBS is .45 and .41 per sub depending on sub accountDisney is .91 (being neg.)Discovery is .37710Sci Fi is .2043 (analog), .27 digital w/ 70% pentrationCartoon Network is .16800 (charter) and .18700 (non charter)HBO is $8.72 + 28% of retail over $7.00Personally, there are several channels I'd gladly give up if we could switch to a-la-carte! Almost $4/month JUST FOR ESPN?!?! They make enough money in commercials already without having rip everyone off compared to other channels...stupid greedy channel providers always increasing their rates.
