joyoftech.com — We've heard some very shocking and sad news. Our longtime friend, colleague, and supporter Bill Douthett (DigitalBill) has passed away suddenly. Bill was an amazing guy... He was one of the first podcasters I ever listened to, and although his show kind of faded, I think he did a lot for the community. From the joy of tech website.

He was also featured today on the Mac OS Ken podcast. Apparently Ken was a close friend of Bill's and his loss hit Ken pretty hard.

Digital Bill - a podcasting pioneer - will be missed by his fans. He started his show in October 2004 - and I heard him for the first time a few months later. I was a true fan of the Wizards of Technology, and to this day, it is the only podcast that I ever contributed to with comments and questions. Although I cannot claim to have listened to every episode, there are few other podcasts that I have heard more often. Goodbye Bill - and thank you!

They failed to answer the question as to how he died

I don't think that is known yet. I'm sure we'll get updates at the Wizards of Technology website as they become available.

WOT was one of the first podcasts I started listening to back in the fall of 2004 and it is the only podcast I have ever donated money to. It had been a while since I saw a new show in my iTunes library so I decided to go to the WOT website and see what was going on. Imagine my shock to hear Digital Bill had passed away. Happy Mac trails DB. You will be missed by many people you never even met.
