krose.typepad.com— My Tivo just received an update last night that included support for podcasts. I was shocked when I found out that diggnation is one of the default technology podcasts.

Well personally I do not do closed systems like Tvio; the whole subscription thing is a joke and another monthly re-occurring charge. I think it would be funny to see Tivo lose their revenue stream by a podcast from Dignation talking about ?Hacking The Tivo Programming Guide?.
And another thing, can't you just stream the MP3 using Tivo's Music function anyway? Wouldn't this give you the ability to pause, etc? I mean, you can have your podcaster worry about downloading new episodes onto your PC, and then just access the file through the music feature of Tivo, right?
Dude, you can get videocasts automatically downloaded to your tivo with Galleon. Subscribe to diggnation videos and other videocasts and cancel your cable tv!And email Tivo/Yahoo about supporting this directly. It's a bear because you have to transcode (most) podcasts to mpeg2 from mpeg4.
this is great. I've had it for one week now but haven't really played with it until now. There are games as well which is a real nice add-on when you're tired playing console games...yes, xbox360 can be tiring
Just got the update. This kicks ASS! I'm getting ready to fly to Tulsa tomorrow. I launched TiVo, plugged TULSA into yahoo weather and viola! The 5 day forecast for Tulsa. After that, I sat back and enjoyed Diggnation episode 24 for the nth time!TiVo has really got something here. If they offer up videocasts in the future TiVo will be off and running. FINALLY making a profit! What was Alex saying about the Xbox doing something like this a while back?SjN

I'm not an expert on this sort of thing, but doesn't it go against the Creative Commons license since you have to pay for Tivo?

You have to pay for an iPod. How is that different from paying for TiVo?

@VryzThe tivo series 2 uses a mpeg 2 hardware decoder. It is impossible for a tivo to play anything but mpeg 2.
