parislemon.blogspot.com — Would love to hear Diggnation's thoughts on this new algorithm. This user is a personal friend of mine and I think his points are valid. I wanted to present this issue because I am sure there are some counterpoints to this posting... Let me hear your thoughts!

If you really want the latest breaking news then go to bbc or cnn sites. Digg better for finding stories that wouldn't normally find in your average news site.

missed the time, but here is my edit- the link i posted was prior to saddam's official conviction, so paris did in fact get the original. that said, i stand by all other comments, as unpopular users get duped by top users and their stories get buried because they don't have as many "friends."

Aaaz posted way too much. You guys were just submitting stuff to submit stuff. The quality wasn't that great and I could get most of your articles by going to psyorg, endgaget, and reuters front page. The fact that much of that stuff made it to the front page perhaps due to friend digging made it troublesome for those that would prefer not to see them.Perhaps if we were allowed to block users that we didn't want to see stories from it would be a moot point. Just having every 3rd article submitted by you guys was a bit too much. I think allowing people to block submitters stories would be a better compromise since those who didn't like them wouldn't see them and you still could get front page with those who didn't mind.

I stopped reading when I got to this line:"This is especially true for the top users such as myself who have very many friends on Digg."Another so-called top user whining that they don't have the same power and influence they had before. Sigh. It's a level playing field now, and I don't see how anyone could complain about that. Digg is about the links and the community, not a small subset of "top users" with carefully crafted Friends system that diggs itself up. The initial draw of Digg was that it didn't have any editors, and this group of users found a way to become editors. Now Digg has taken that away from them, and they're frustrated. Why should this guy's stories have any more clout than stories submitted by me or some newbie to the site? Digg should be user-neutral and editor-less.I swear I'm going to crack if I see one more "top user" whining about Digg not giving them special preference anymore. Enough.

Obviously the quality has gone up since there's been less frontpage stories. There needs to be a good balance between quality and turnover.
