verysimple.com — Being a lover of technology and apparently having no self-discipline I found myself spending way too much time on digg and other social websites lately. I decided to do something about it. Attached is a simple script to redirect access to certain, ehem, non-productive sites on a schedule of your choosing.

Can you create a batch script that blocks me from every poker site one the web? That would be awesome.

Even though I have no computer at work I can safely say if I did I would be on this site too. I mean it's addictive and gives me the kind-of news that I want to see or even want others to know about. So I can definitely see how this could happen.

OK f**k you pogfreak. I'm not speaking out of my ass or out of any book I have read. I have read no book about such things, I'm speaking out of my experience. I'm no professor on this matter as certainly you aren't, I was just pointing out a way that your stupid self can't grasp. So get over it and continue reading the rest of this thread without making stupid remarks.

I love digg but I wouldn't visit digg at work for fears that it might set off the alarms in the corporate IT department.

You can edit your hosts file on a mac too - here's an article - <a class="user" href="http://www.axiom.co.uk/blog/2004/08/editing-hosts-file-in-os-x.html">http://www.axiom.co.uk/blog/2004/08/editing-hosts-file-in-os-x.html</a>I don't really know how to do scheduling on the mac, but basically you could use the same concept as the windows batch scripts to copy/replace hosts file on a schedule.

And here's an article about a site that's guaranteed to waste even more of your time than digg :) <a class="user" href="http://www.digg.com/software/Guaranteed_to_waste_more_of_your_time_than_Digg">http://www.digg.com/software/Guaranteed_to_waste_more_of_your_time_than_Digg</a>
