juicynote.com — Whats wrong with digg? Its the people! We are too positive. In our zeal to digg the good stories we are neglecting our duties reporting the duds. I have written an article on my blog explaining why Digg Spy is the answer to finding bad stories that are gaining traction and stopping them in their tracks!

The problem here is essentially a question of peoples different views of what digg should be. Some people think it's a news site, other people think it should be a place where cool stuff is featured. I personally would rather that digg be about news, and you finding something you think is cool isnt news. If you want that kind of stuff, go join an online forum. If you stick to only digging news, then reposting old stories for people who havent seen then shouldnt be a question, since those old stories are no longer news, and the new people will be able to use digg just like everyone else, as a news source. I personally think that digg really needs a more well understood way of canceling out other users diggs, and I think alot of other users feel the same way.

Next up, "Digg users complain too much, get off the internet and go outside".

agreed. There could be 2 buttons beside the story . "digg" and "dud" each of which contribute to the digg score.

Wow, when did Digg turn into Slashdot?Perhaps when the user count reached a similar critical mass as Slashdot did when it started to suck. Can digg really do better? I sure hope so...

Some people only check Digg once a day, or a few times a week, not several times a days like some. These stories that bother you are dugg by enough people to get to the homepage, and continue to receive diggs once there. It's useful to somebody. I don't promote a virus getting on the homepage, but I don't think reporting each and everything is necessary. Do your part as you see fit, but it you're starting to sound like a "Digg Nazi".

"I would encourage people to do what I did and prove this ninnie wrong by reporting the story as lame. Lets get it canned."This doesn't prove me wrong, it proves me right. If enough people agree with you it will happen. Digg is democracy in action! We can't just vote yes for the things we like, we have to vote no for the things we don't. Thats all I'm saying.

click on your profile and when it lists your diggs, a blue "undigg" option is added to the line where the "comments, blog this, category, etc" links are.

On the early days of digg, I would read each and all stories on the frontpage and exclaim "wow, all this stuff was useful". Unfortunately, nowadays I just scroll past the first page and rarely see something that catch my attention. On the last few months, think to yourself how many times did you see:a) duplicate stories;b) stories with "THE BEST [picture/movie/soft/etc.]", "THE ULTIMATE [guide/site/gadget]" and all of them are either old or neither THE BEST nor THE ULTIMATE;c) stories that don't have enough content to justify so many diggs;Personaly, I have dug about 10-15 stories since I got my registration months ago. Those are stories who are so useful or so cool that I usualy come to digg to retrieve them (like a bookmark). Of course I've read some other stories that were interesting, but not enough for my digg - for those I can simply use the search engine.I feel that either we should have some moderators or some option to "undig" stories. I wish digg will be back to its former shape, and maybe I can find some quality stuff like in www.metafilter.org or www.fark.com Cheers.
