blog.digg.com — "For what it’s worth, and to shift the blame off of the users listed here - quite a bit of this data was gathered inaccurately as the author states in the Digg comments. Please also note, due to the massive number of Diggs/submissions/buries and comments, Digg spy only shows a portion of the activity within Digg at any time."

I'm another accused member of the Bury Brigade...in fact I'm #5..nice!I don't see anything wrong with burying things which are obviously spam. Isn't that what democracy is about?

I'm sure Digg does censor certain information, especially if it goes against certain beliefs or if the top brass does not like a story...just check on any of the conspiracy information posted by certain groups, such as infowars.com etc., as the majority of the public finds most of the information truthful, if not at least worthy of a mention since you can leave positive or negative comments, but when you even do a search for certain articles they are not found, so to me this is censorship!!! Which flies in the face of what they say this site is all about, such a shame as that is why most of us do not read the main-stream media information as we know it to be censored and propoganda.

Mageant, this is the most interesting post in the thread. The intentions of Digg are one thing, the service model is something different and much more interesting. I can't agree or disagree with you, because you carefully chose the "disproportionate" word to state your fact. So, Kevin, you'd rather go find out what "disproportionate" excatly is and come back with something reliable.IMHO Digg has been unconsciously playing withy fire and didn't expect what's happening. Yes Wenz, I also agree that "There was a time when I enjoyed Digg very much". The site is becoming uselesss (who cares about a "Mainstream collaborative filter" anyway? We all want the spicy crunch from the Long Trail) and your post is definitely the main issue Digg has urgently to deal with.

That "answer" didnt answer one f**king thing. All it said is "we know how the algorithm works, so screw you! If you dont like it, be assured that we thought long and hard on it...Like 3 minutes! Im Kevin Rose, so if you dont like it, make your own Digg!"

Personally, I am starting to think Digg was a bad idea to begin with and is currently starting its long slide into being a joke on the net that no one bothers to visit.Unless this silly burying thing where 20 people can negate the votes of hundreds or thousands is totally done away with...then its doomed to more and more users leaving....and if ANYTHING ELSE COMES ALONG that competes with it....people will have no loyalty to digg and leave asap. The BURY needs to be replaced with a "REPORT THIS AS SPAM" button or something that does noting to the actual rating or visability of the article, but just reports it to the site admins/editors for review. And if they see someone reporting stuff to them that is just "I dont like it" they can take personal action with that user. The whole "SELF-editing" idea of digg is a total and complete crock of s**t.

WTF, what happened to the front page Wired story from this morning? I can't even access it through my profile. It is giving me that "we'll be back shortly" BS... and I know this isn't the first time that huge stories have just vanished recently. I have to admit something is starting to seem odd around here... and "I've got a bad feeling about this".... Let's hope they can sort things out and that their "damage control" isn't even more damaging, but the more I consider the challenges ahead for them it seems increasingly impossible. The bigger Digg gets the crappier it is going to get. Digg will probably just become a battleground for spammers and ideologues, and the real users will abandon it. If nothing else it is going to be interesting to see Digg and Revision3 crash and burn if it goes that route.

The purpose of burying is to show that you don't like something.
