digg is only loosely based on slashdot, while shout seems almost the same as digg (except for the wider range of categories) I don't have a problem with shout as long as they don't start claiming that they were here first, which might happen when people who have only ever seen shout, see digg for the first time. But aside from that, bring on the competition.I'm only really interested in tech news anyway, so shout is no use to me (I use google news for anything else specific)And in some ways its a good thing that you cant link from one site to the other, a bookmarking site shouldn't link to another bookmarking site, but rather to the original article.

"At first I thought our willingness to take down the camera store was a nice thing. Made us more of a community. After seeing what you idiots are doing to Shoutwire, I'm ashamed to be a member of this group."My feelings exactly.

Competition is great for us. What I find weird about this site is that it censors "digg." It is an exact replica of digg, you can't copy another website and change the words, that's gotta be a copyright violation. Sure there are differences, but there are so many damn similarities.

OK, while what DIGGers did was juvenile and rather pathetic, what SHOUTWIRE is doing is even more juvenils and pathetic. Not only are they deleting the spam articles (which I completely understand) but they are deleting ANY thread mentioning DIGG. So they are as petty and juvenile as the spammers.

Wow. Digg certainly got ideas from Slashdot, but took it in a different direction. Shoutwire looks like a blatant copy of Digg! It's amazing how similar they are.I hope Kevin has saved some of that venture capital to put towards a legal department.

i like both digg and slashdot, i believe that digg isnt really a ripof of slash dot because the sites are alot different, like with digg the users vote not moderators. but shout copies digg almost exactly
