And what, replace it with soda?I swear that must have been the most retarded comment yet. I'm not saying they're the best ever, or it's true to substitute with just fruit. But I just can't see any reason to cut fruit out of a diet, especially considering they aren't JUST sugar. Least I know all of the ingredients in an apple.

You're not lifting weight to build muscle if you're doing 15 light reps on a bowflex. If you want muscle and muscle tone you have to do 5x5 of heavy weight, and try to increase the weight you're doing every workout.Good job on being healthier, although a vegan lifestyle isn't nessecarily the best path, you went out and did something instead of just talking about doing it like most.

I still think the best diet article was on here a couple months back that said drink 16 oz. of water in the morning, in the afternoon, and in the evening. This will curb your appetite and even if all you eat is junkfood you won't be able to eat enough of it to really have much of an effect, but it still leaves you hungry enough to get the perfect amount of nutrition assuming you are eating the right foods.

For the same reason the author states not to cook with flax seed oil, you should not cook with canola oil either. Better yet, you should avoid it completely.Flax seed oil is 58% omega-3 and canola is 7%. Omega-3 fatty acids, when cooked, become damaged and contribute to certain degenerative diseases. Before you even buy it, most supermarket bought canola oil is extracted from the seeds using high heat, which damages the fatty acids. Additionally, the processing of canola oil often results in a significant amount of trans fat which does not appear on the label (1). Finally, canola oil contains about 1% erucic acid, which also contributes to certain degenerative diseases and is limited to under 2% by the FDA. Some argue that 1% is completely safe, but there have never been any long term human studies.(1)http://www.springerlink.com/content/x6788l1g4x5822u3/The author encourages eating salads. Salad dressing is a good opportunity to obtain essential fatty acids; unfortunately, most, if not all, salad dressing in your supermarket will not be very healthy. I suggest making your own. I think Americans may still have problems buying it, but cold pressed hemp seed oil tastes excellent and it has a good ratio of omega-3 to omega-6.

This doesn't sound much like a diet, sounds more like the way you change your lifestyle. Alot of people think you're on a diet just because you don't eat crap, people think I diet all the time at work and I have to tell them that it's just the way I eat now. Nice set of guidelines to go by though, if you're trying to become more healthy.
