cnn.com — Embattled Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick pleaded guilty today to charges resulting from a sex scandal and is to resign from office, a prosecutor said. The mayor pleaded guilty to two counts of obstruction of justice. Kilpatrick will go to jail on October 28 and serve 120 days, Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy said

Mr. Kilpatrick had his lawyers draft a settlement from a whistleblower lawsuit for $9 million taxpayer dollars to cover up his affair. I'd say that's a very public matter.

Most people I know, are Democrats. Most people I know wanted his ass out. I don't know anyone who's defending him because of his party. He's a crook in more ways then just this judgment encompasses.If there is a discrepancy between how loudly the Democrats revile a Republican it's usually because it's the Republicans that are telling us how to behave, whom we can have a relationship with and how. So when they tell us on one hand being gay is a disease, and shouldn't have the same rights as other couples in love, and then proceed to partake in those kinds of relationships, and when caught out on it scream bloody murder that it's a personal matter, we get pretty damned pissed.

No amount of politics will help Detroit. After the race riots (which made the ones in LA look like a Christmas party) it was a pariah. If you could afford to move you did, and that's still the case.If you're looking for a liberal city seek Ann Arbor. Detroit isn't a liberal city. Detroit is s**t hole because the people who could do something about it don't give a s**t. Detroit is also so deeply nepotistic that party means nothing. Democrat is just a label they put on the ballots because *something* needs to be there.

I have to agree with bshensky, above (Hi Brian!) Coleman "Soulman" Young destroyed the vitality of the once-beautiful city of Detroit (my hometown) with his racist attitudes and rampant corruption. Detroit COULD once again be resurrected IF they get a mayor who has the balls to be more concerned about improving and revitalizing the city than lining his pockets with funds pilfered from city business, or graft. Kwame ran Detroit like it was Tammany Hall - it was all about INFLUENCE. Glad he's gone, and GOOD RIDDANCE - enjoy prison, Kwame. You belong there.
