"I agree that it is wrong that marijuana is illegal. However, they shot at and tried to kill the police officers.""This has nothing to do with pot. If a robber holding up a 7/11 shots at a cop, I bet he'll be shot dead too."Why are the Police there? To enforce an unconstitutional Drug War "Crime".It is not the same if someone is holding up a 7/11. Robbery is a REAL crime... you're stealing someone's hard earned money, their personal property. Agriculture isn't a crime. All he was doing was Growing Plants. There would've been no shots at all if it was legal. Those who support the Drug War point to instances like this as examples of why drugs are dangerous and need to stay illegal, which is insane because these situations are a DIRECT RESULT of these drugs being illegal. As has been said already, "If it were decriminalized, then there wouldn't be armed men guarding clandestine pot farms. How many moonshine production busts gone bad have you read about in the last few years?"Decriminalize and get it out of the hands of these DANGEROUS people.
""Why are the police innocent?"Because they were being shot at?"Does that make the soldier an innocent? Of course not."The man who shot at the police officer did so because he knew his life as he knew it was over."Yeah, sorry, I'm all for decriminalization of marijuana, but the guy made the decision to grow pot. He knew the risks involved. If his life as was over as he knew it, it was because of the choices he made prior to the cops arriving."Absolutely! There are no innocents in the war on drugs. That is the problem. The war itself (like all wars) removes any innocents from the players involved.
The United States is a huge country.. in California where I live it is much more lenient than even your policies in Canada. They have medical marijuana dispensaries around the state where you can buy high grade marijuana.
