politico.com— Mounting evidence that independent voters have soured on the Democrats is prompting a debate among party officials about what rhetorical and substantive changes are needed to halt the damage.

No, Independents did not 'bolt' on the Democrats. The Democrats 'bolted' on the Independents. They have been supporting Wall Street, not Main Street. They have been supporting the Health Care Industry, not the patient. They have been supporting the Drug Companies, not the Users. They have been supporting the Banks, not the CreditorsThey have been supporting the Real Estate Industry, not the Home Owner. They have been supporting the Employer, not the Employee. They have been supporting the Lobbyists, not the People. If they want to retain the support of Independents, then they can support the Change we Can Believe In, not the Change to Increase the Well Being of the Greedy Economic/Industrial Oligopoly.
reeds1999, the Democrats AND the Republicans need to pull back within the frame work of the Constitution as well as remember our history and what the forefathers and the Founding Fathers envisioned for this country. The government has no business trying to create jobs. They need to restore the climate that lets "We the People" create jobs. They have no business trying to get involved in our health care, let "We the People" work it out. The government needs to get back to representing us with the other nations. Also Congress represent us between the states so that one state does not try to short change another state, that is, ensure commerce is, where possible, and within reason equal, ie, speed limits, vehicle safety regulations, load limits among some of the issues. Governments are not to provide for us, just represent us.This business of "not to Change to increase the Well Being of the Greedy Economic/Industrial Oligopoly" is baloney, these are the very people that provide the jobs and opportunities "We the People" need to make a life for ourselves. Yes, there are greedy people and they are in business and "We the People" need to control our greed so we can stand against the greedy "Economic/Industrial Oligopoly". I like most people have my wants, however, I do not give into those wants when the priceof a product is too high. You used the word Oligopoly, big word, but most people in business are not in that category, you have listened to many Marxist indoctrinated or leaning politicians and or educators. Capitalism is not the enemy of this nation, man's fallen nature is the enemy of this nation not captialism. Think about it.
I'm a lifelong independent voter, and I bolted from the Dems after 8 years of Slick Willy. I bolted from the Repubs after the Patriot Act. I vote 3rd party now.
