I demand they stop doing things that make it harder for Anime Music Videos to be made. I demand they stop doing things that make it hard to paste in our own graphics for games. I demand that they stop fostering a climate where there is a disincentive to create stock animations. There is enough animation out there that there is quite a bit of collision in the graphics where a character in one video is essentially the same drawing as a character in another except with different color hair, or different style hair or something equally simple. We should be able to make new things where the newness boils down to the equivalent of a midi file.
Do you often come t political discussions and try to stop them by saying there are more important things to discuss? There is always something worse. That is no reason not to fight this wrong. There is something fishy about your statement - I think perhaps you are against this action. What are YOU doing to stop the wiretapping ? Anything more than whining at others ?
> Where the f**k is the logic in that? If a bus was stolen by a member of the civil rights movement, I would imagine he or she would share that bus so others wouldn't have to pay, very similar to the way piracy works.I imagine that stealing buses would have discredited their argument for fair and equal treatment.
The MPAA/ RIAA/ *AA is not futile. They are creating a climate of fear to destoy peer to peer distribution. They are makeing millions from extorting music fans. They are framing the cultural debate in terms that allow repressive legislation to break any device that does not allow them full control over distribution. They are makeing sure independant culture does not have the means to distribute anything that would compete with their corporate culture.Remember they make money from pirates and pirates provide them with a 'devil' to scare politicians into repressive legislation.Soon it will a crime to look away at advert breaks.
Heh... so many incorrect statements.Define "sharing culture". I spend years learning and developing a skill/trade, and you distribute that product without my knowledge or consent at no cost to you, you are not sharing, you are taking away my rights and livelihood. You are not sharing, you are devaluing my work and effort and violating my rights. Exposing someone to new music/entertainment is one thing, reproducing in entirety removing the need/desire to compensate the creator is infringement of rights. The label "sharing" has been poorly applied to this whole situation and is in no way the same as sharing your toys as a kid with another kid. Changing the name from "unauthorized distribution" to "sharing" doesn't change what it really is. By that logic, I could "share" my neighbors car without asking and it would be ok, right? As long as I don't take it when he needs it and fill it with gas, that is ok, right? And, pardon me which "human" right are referring to that covers digital distribution of MP3s or movies created by others? And as far as "erosion" of "rights" or corruption by politicians or culture being taken away or copyrights lack of utility, you might want to due a little research on that before making claims like that. Copyright law in one form or another has been around since efficient reproduction. It was written in to the US Constitution by the founders. Most every other country has similar laws in place to respect the rights of creators and there are international laws doing the same. Do not confuse the actions of an organization or individuals with what copyright it. Whatever MPAA/RIAA may or may not due or what tactics they use, they are ultimately responsible. If the are harassing people illegally, they need to be held accountable for those actions. It is not a problem with copyright. Any more than you would want to eliminate all cars just because some people crash or drive unsafely. Simply flawed logic."If your so 'interested' in stopping wiretapping by the NSA why are you wasting your time here. I think you are being far from honest in your motives. Go and start publicising your campaign. That is if you really care ?"Ohhh... more logical fallacies and moronic assertions.1. According to you, I am not allowed to have more than one interest? Thanks, but I am quite capable of having more interest and opinion. And I realize that your views are that you should be able to dictate what rights others have, but as with the rest of your arguments, you are wrong. I have the right to spend my time as I please, I don't certainly don't feel injecting a little logic into a discussion is a waste of my time.2. In what conceivable way am I being dishonest about my motives? Put away the tin-foil hat kid. I am a content creator, I have been my whole adult life. I believe this stupid sense of entitlement fostered by the useless folks of the world does more harm than good. Both to the creators of the world in their ability to continue to add to the culture, and the wasted time of those spent downloading and screaming entitlement when they could be learning to actually contribute through creating new work rather than pretending that they are somehow help "culture" by "sharing" the work done by others. 3. You assume things you have no basis to assume. What makes you think that I am not politically active in real issues of digital/data/communication rights, or work for a company that is very active in that arena? Obviously you don't know otherwise you wouldn't have made that statement. Real action does not occur on some board like digg. Issues like the NSA wiretapping is very important and I care very much about it and work against government issues things like that, both personally and through work. (though not on that particular issue as it is still early and from a rights standpoint has quite enough momentum at this point). But thank your for attempting to avoid a valid discussion by making ad hominem attacks. It clearly illustrates how weak your real argument is.
"yeah NicP - he is not getting it because he doesn't agree with you, is that it?"The fight against DRM and the big labels and copyright isn't about getting something something for nothing. The artists want people to hear and buy their music, consumers want to listen to music and compensate artists, so whats the problem? Well the big labels and the RIAA want everything to go through them, they want control, they want DRM. It doesn't take a genius to see that if you give consumers what they want (quality unrestricted music files) at a reasonable price people will buy it. Of course the RIAA and big labels don't buy into this because they loose their control, eg artists can start selling to their fans directly. Basically they have reached their use buy date and its time for artists and consumers to take their music industry back.
