The site?s owner claimed the downtime was due to hardware issues and warned of the loss of both torrents and user data. Today, however, there is hope on the horizon, as Demonoid?s tracker is now up and running again.

Coming from the same situation, I'd guess they'd open registration for a week or two after the site's reopening, as they lost a few month's worth of data ad registered users, which would piss off a fair few people who lost their accounts.

If you think demonoid is *that* good I can't imagine what you'd do on one of the real private sites (like what.cd). Demonoid is decent, but filter out all the duplicate/garbage torrents and idiotic user comments, and increase the seed/peer ratio to where you download at max speed and you've got a real private tracker.

Here are a list of sites I use somewhat regularly:BibliotikTehConnectionHD-Torrents.orgbitGAMERBlackcatsPassThePopcornScienceHDFree.The.Scenex264 TheBoxWhat.cdWaffles.fmSuperTorrentsOut of those, I use bitGAMER (Blackcats is better, but bitGAMER is easier to seed), What.cd (definitely better than waffles.fm in every way), and x264/PassThePopcorn the most.If I need TV shows, I just use Free.The.Scene or SuperTorrents (Sceneaccess.org has a quite good selection, but I don't download TV shows very often and so got disabled for inactivity).I have invites for all of those except for x264 and Blackcats, if anyone's interested.
