While I like the approach, this one had too many bugs for me. I'll give it another try in a couple of months as I'm sure they're working on it. It actually seems there are too many obvious bugs to get involved at this time. Some of the bugs I got on WinXP were:- Double clicking the top bar didn't maximize- Once I minimized back to normal, but then the program disappeared into the Windows bar and couldn't be opened again- Often, clicking on navigation tabs didn't result in anything but perpetual loading pages- The videos were often extremely low-quality -- if they're going to market is under the "just like TV" claim, they should make sure to show off hi-definition channels only (at least until you dig deeper)- There was no progress bar once a video played- The download progress bar went way over the right-side of the screen (it extended its own length)- The download icons didn't immediately give feedback at first, not showing that the download started- Some links in the opening help didn't take me to anywhere, or were missing- Changing the size of the nav-bar resulted in resizing errors in full-screen mode- There is no Pause button (this is only a usability bug, as the Play button simply remains static, but can be used as Pause button)... and that was just in the first 5 minutes of playing around with this. But I like their approach, so I'll be back.
Thanks for the list of bugs!FYI, most of these are in the bug tracker: https://develop.participatoryculture.org/projects/dtv/roadmapThe one I'm really interested in is the problem you had with the download progress bar. Haven't seen that before. Can you post a bug for that an a screenshot? That'd be a huge help. The ones having to do with video playback should be fixed in the next release. We're going to make an "HD" section of the channel guide too. All the general stability and responsiveness issues are our #1 priority and should be fixed soon, though there is some tricky stuff involved with getting Python and Xulrunner to play nice together. The mac and linux version don't have any of these issues.I am psyched to hear you're gonna stay tuned.
