businessweek.com— Now Bucher is again squaring off against his former company. He's spearheading an ambitious plan at Dell (DELL) to break Apple's dominant hold on the digital entertainment market.

Yet another moron with a grudge. This dolt speaks as though it is Apple's idea to limit the distribution of downloaded music and that he (Bucher) can blithely invent a new, "more open" standard and sign up all the music distribution companies without complaint. On what planet does he imagine that this hare-brained scheme of his has even a ghost of a chance of succeeding?
Step 1. Create an mp3 player than is actually able to play mp3 files.Step 2. Add wifi.Step 3. Make people be able to exchange mp3 files in a temporary ad-hoc network without needing help from PCs.Step 4. Do everything nifty looking, people buy just because it's beautiful, not because it's good. Keep in mind: people = stupid.
Really?I love iTunes. One of the problems I see with the idea of creating this new multiple platform technology is that there is no standard. The nice thing about iTunes, while admitting the drawbacks that come along with it, is that it is a universal system that integrated everything together. Dell, which will still run on Windows, will never be able to create an interface that has the capability of iTunes because it simply isn't possible. Agreed, it would be good for the market as a whole if they could pull it off, but I think we all know that it won't happen.
