bits.quintanasegui.com — Canonical allows (and helps) Dell to sell the Dell Mini 12 with a non standard version of Ubuntu. The result is that this computer cannot run a standard version of Ubuntu with the right screen resolution. This is misleading, because when people buy Ubuntu boxes, they expect to be able to run Ubuntu on them.

oomfoofoo, you didn't get the point. The point is that people have expectations, and the distro that comes with this Dell is not the Ubuntu people expect. The result is disappointment and, maybe, the loss of a possible free software user. When I buy a Big Mac, I know what I buy, when I buy Nike, I know what to expect, now, when I buy Ubuntu, I don't know what I'm buying. That's a serious problem.

oomfoofoo, it should be noted that Dell's Ubuntu cannot be upgraded to 8.10.

Too much personal opinion and poorly worded criticism for me.
