wirelessisfun.com — Apparently Dell is going to ship computers pre-installed with a Linux distro! This is great news for the Linux Community, and we see a great awareness increase between the people who still believe that the rounded E from Internet Explorer is the INTERNET... finally!

Oh man. Mixed feelings. Very mixed. I can't stand Dell's hardware. But *everyone will buy it.* This is truly good news for Linux, which means it's good news for me... but I can't help wishing that it was IBM/Lenovo doing this instead of Dell.

Why would the average joe ask for Linux instead of Windows? Most people have never heard of Linux so therefore they won't ask for it. If Dell does give you an option to choose Windows or Linux, it will give the person who is interested in Linux and its ideals a chance to use it, without having to install it and configure all their devices. Also while not the smartest company in the world, Dell certainly isn't the dumbest. Their is no way they are just going to throw a distro on a computer, shove it out the door, and tell people to figure it out.

Crazyz... You're right - that is why linux is a better choice for the average Joe.... Most software that will ever be used on the PC is included and ready to work out of the f**king box (vs. install shield wizard after install shield wizard) no Anti-virus worries, and more. It is stress free computing.
