phoronix.com — Dell wants to offer ATI Linux systems, but first the driver must be improved for the Linux platform (not necessarily open-source, but improved)...Amit had went on to add that new Dell product offerings and availability in other countries will come later this summer.

This is a big "pressure point" on ATI. Dell is an 800-pound gorilla, and chip manufacturers will take seriously any customer who places POs for chips by the millions. Actually, Dell orders in quantities that they can have chips custom built.

Wow, you quit after just 15 minutes? Seriously, dude, it took me about 2 or 3 HOURS the first time. Sometimes it's hard to tweak Linux, especially with dual monitors. Just keep trying, put some music on, you'll get it.

Maybe instead talking to ATI they should pay open source developers who are working on DRI project.r300 driver was developed by reverse engineering and is now quite stable and useful.Newest ATI chips are not supported by driver yet.Maybe some funds or better some documentation would help them.

Dell should just make better computers instead.

Maybe you should have put "You are" instead of your, because clearly you don't understand the whole apostrophes thing.

But EMacs has vi now! So now everyone's happy, right? Right? No? aww...But seriously. Someone made a vi plugin for emacs.I'm glad that the Open Source drivers are working for you. They're much higher quality than ATi's one.
