That isn't the point, the point is that all of the hardware will be certified to have native open source Linux drivers ( sans possibly high end graphics cards which don't yet exist with open source drivers see: Nvidia )If you meant that people can simply buy the same model / configuration then I agree with you, but that still is not the point.

I'm not familiar with that, as these Ubuntu laptops will be the first Dell machines I've considered buying in that context - ie: for home use.

Something that I don't understand is why the prices of a laptop with ubuntu are the same than with windows. Shouldn't it be more cheaper than windows ? at least 100 dollars less than a laptop with windows.
