No matter who claims it's false, their configuration tools look identical - and they look like Dell's. Anyone who's gone through the system building at Alienware before knows it didn't look exactly like Dell's but it does now:Alienware's Configuration Tool:http://tinyurl.com/jbncnDell's Configuration Tool:http://tinyurl.com/cacruBelieve Dell if you want, but expect an announcement sometime in the near future. The only way I see them not making this huge is if they're just buying them out to have a hand in "Premium" PC sales. At this point, everyone sees them as just a cheap PC seller, but this could get them a lot more market saturation while increasing their bottom line. This would effectively allow them to buy more expensive parts at a severely discounted price, making massive amounts of profits in the process.Think it'll cost them 5k to make that PC you're buying? Try more like 2k - 2.5k after their bulk purchase discount. That way, they have money coming in hand-over-fist.
Well is about Freaking time I bought one of this system and believe me when I tell you this company was being lead by a bunch of morons. The system that I got was a top of the line Area 51 with 2BGs of ram right out of the box it didn't work and there a gbs of ram missing I send it back they told me it was going to be about 2 weeks turn around well it was more like 3 months. Once I finally got it there were screws loose inside the case 1 GB or ram was still missing and the audio card and the audio card were faulty at best and system kept in crashing. I could had bought a emachine and I am almost certain that it would had work right of the box, but a $4,500.00 dollar system was at best a paper weight. I hope this company goes down in flames their customer service blows beyond comprehension. Finally I took what it was left of the alien crap system and rebuild it myself and quest what it hasn't crash since I rebuild it. SO A WORD OF ADVISE STAY AWAY FROM ALIEN FU******G WARE SAVE YOUR MONEY!
It's true. I read it in the business section of the paper today. They (Dell) claim it was simply an acquisition, and that Alienware will continue to developer their PCs independently of Dell. Furthermore, they will continue to use their own customer service and the company will NOT relocate. All this is probably subject to change, though. For the record, I've owned an Alienware (Area 51), and their customer service was top notch. My current system I built myself, but for someone less inclined, Alienware does (or did) make top notch systems. Yes, they are overpriced IMO, but they are hand built, bench marked, and stress tested in-house. When they ship it to you, it has documentation with the name of your builder WRITTEN, not typed. All benchmarks ran by this individual are also hand-written. He/she explains what they did and why they did it. Their stress testing is done with various programs (3d Mark, etc.) ran for 24 hours in a continuous loop, to determine possible weaknesses or heating issues. All this extra stuff is what makes Alienwares special in my opinion. I'm afraid this is all going to change, though. R.I.P., Alienware.
You guys, Not that I beleive everything I read in the paper, but it WAS in the paper (buis. sect) Right there in black and white. Dell bought Alienware.
