consumerist.com — Think Dell will upgrade it for free for you? Might want to think again after hearing this case. A big fat lie dell had given to this guy caused him so much trouble and time. He eventually got it, but he had to write a letter to Dell's CEO. Look inside to share the pain.

I've dealt with Dell numerous times the past two months dealing with a mother board for an out of warranty laptop. It's time consuming, but if you are very stern with them and don't budge, insisting that they better fix the problem, eventually you'll get the results you were looking for. It's a shame you have to almost act like an ass to get anything you want, but that's the way it's become.

This isn't a similar issue. You were told when you ordered that you wouldn't be eligible. This issue is that he was told he would be eligible but then they refused to honor it.

I'm sure I'm not the first to say it's way easier to download vista and install the crack - thats not morally wrong if you deserve a copy anyway.

If you substituted T-Mobile in for Dell and made a few other slight changes, this would be verbatim what I experienced with T-Mobile.Corporate America with it's offshore tech support is obnoxious and irresponsible. They do not encourage reps to follow-through as that COSTS THEM MONEY.I think the guy got too worked up and spent too much time trying to get a steaming piece of Vista. His health was degraded and his computer will be too if he succeeds with the Vista thing.

I have been using the m1210 from dell and it's really of the hook, I just wish I got it with the Nvidia card because the Intel is sluggish.
