arstechnica.com— Microsoft announced the Windows 7 beta at CES last week, and Ars has been using it since the moment it became available. Here's an in-depth look at the current state of the next version of Windows.

Windows 7 is nice but found out one feature, that has been missing from Windows and I think it's about time to add it: the ISO image handlingI spent considerable amount of time after installing beta to find a way to mount an ISO image. The Daemon Tools does not work (as usual in a case of beta OS) and Virtual Clone Something also does not do its job correctly. Finally I discovered a little commandline utility filedisk from Microsoft, which did the trick. All I want is the mount and burn ISO image feature from OS. Other uses should require additional software but mounting and burning an image should be features of an OS. All I would like is a context menu option of .iso file to mount an image (as next available drive letter) and burn (the contents of) image
I'm going to have to posit that gamers HATED XP when it came out. Entire forums were full of threads exclaiming the loss of performance they had when going to XP. It wasn't until more than a year later that widespread acceptance came along.
Thanks, I guess I took pinning a bit too literally. Also you can tell between items which are running and not running by a little box that appears around the icon. If you have multiple windows open in one application then multiple 'boxes' appear (looks kinda like if you stacked several transparent windows up). Hard to describe, but it's quite easy to tell if an application is open or not.
1-click to unmount a USB drive? Don't you want to select which USB device to unmount?Vista and even XP both offer 2-click unmounting (click the tray icon then click the device name in the pop-up list - done)

Still not convinced I need to pop 200 bucks on something that does the same thing as before.
