Don't get me started. I hate DRM so much I won't even touch those self-checkout terminals with MS Windows on them because Microsoft uses DRM or get an Apple iPod. These evils lurk because we allow them to lurk. Stop buying into the technology and it'll stop existing.
Haha.. Microsoft's Windows platform also supports DRM and it is one of the reasons I won't pay for Microsoft's OS or use it. Those self check-out terminals run on MS Windows. I won't use MS Windows for that reason. That isn't entirely why I won't checkout at the store on one of them though. It makes little difference if I checkout myself or if the cashier checks me out at a register assuming the register also runs it. In the event it has no impact (and chance are it won't) it is more of an emotional thing. It is just too damm upsetting for me to touch a MS Windows system when I don't absolutely have to.
I Just realized You missed a key word in reading my original post. You missed the keyword "OR"... Zune, Microsoft Windows, and Apple's iPod all have DRM. So the reason I won't use any of them is because of DRM. It isn't because the iPod and Zune have DRM that I won't buy groceries on a self-checkout machine running Microsoft Windows. It is because of the DRM that I won't use any of them. And the fact they run MS Windows is just too upsetting for me to use the self-checkout. IE because of things like DRM, non-free software, etc.
The restrictions are worse than people's thought. To reduce the effects,We better develop a new type to replace it.As I know,Some companies are losing more money after they apply the Restrictions. Only few companies decide to use another ways for. Quality is more important than these silly methods. We usually discuss more on quality than these tools. So,There are some new models developed. Not the copy control type, not the hardware restriction type,,not the software restrctions But Access control type. What is Access control model? The model is powered with databases and security tokens. Also, It is powered under the open-platforms,all people can improve the features. So it works for the society and no one can destroy the main ideas of the elements needed (Although some methods are patented but you can simulate yours). So um... let me get this straight, the Zune and Windows Media Player support DRM, so you won't buy groceries on a machine running Windows?
