realitycheck.typepad.com — Demise of the free Internet is slated for 2010 in Canada, and 2 years later world-wide. Canada is seen a good choice to implement such shameful and sinister changes, since Canadians are viewed as being laissez fair, politically uninformed and an easy target.

This makes no sense at all. It was hard enough to get the majority of people to overcome their fear of the online world and trust in the internet as a viable medium to simply shop online... just for basic transactions. This wild scenario would completely kill online commerce and the bring the ability to conduct business online to complete standstill. How would any small online business owner set about trying to convince people to "buy" and include their website into a package? Under this scenario, if the small guy has a hard time getting visiblty over the Interent... be damned if they'll pay to visit the big guys when they're shut out. AND... if someone purchases or adds a certain website to view in their package, will that particular website owner see a cut of the cash?I have no doubt things will evolve to a certain point with Rogers and Telus in the mix, but if you blow on a house of cards, it falls apart.

I am so sick of people stressing over what a corporation is doing instead of just withdrawing their business from these corporations. Corporations do not survive without CUSTOMERS. If you don't like a corporation - and it is usurping rights - just quit giving them your money and they will crash. Your services might suffer temporarily, but new corporations will take up the slack -- that is what Capitalism is all about. So stop freaking out and withdraw your support from that corporation. Every dollar you send them is a vote for them to keep going. Geesh.

Google's working on making making the internet free to everyone. Canada has crappy medical, so why not crappy internet service too. If Canadians want anything good they come to America.
