I figured out how to do it. Firefox+Ad-block plus. The adserver generates a unique 9-digit code so even if you block the ad, it comes back. Replace that 9-digit code with ********* in your filters, and it will make a more generic rule that blocks all variations of that ad.
Personally, I just block ads that are lame. I don't mind the ads in general. They pay for digg, after all. Ads with sound, I hate. Ads with crawling spiders, I hate. So I have Flashblock. Ads I feel the need to get rid of are few and far between. This was one of those ads!

Why don't you just block the entire domain, *.whatever.com/*? Are you worried you might miss out on some really good content from their servers?

If ads on here are annoying enough people often enough for them to get adblock plus then digg will become ad free, they just wont know it.

Just block <a class="user" href="http://ads1.">http://ads1.</a> -- which I thought was a default rule anyway...From source code: script type="text/javascript" src="<a class="user" href="http://Ads1.msn.com/library/dap.js">http://Ads1.msn.com/library/dap.js</a>"
