flickr.com — While reading a review a Leopard, I came across this statement: "The Finder is now iTunes." My mind skipped right over the Cover Flow analogy and started dreaming of browsing the Finder like I browse music in iTunes. A few hours later, here is a Photoshop mockup. Apple, I want this!

And of course, you're modded down with no factual retort at all.

It's a matter of taste at that point, but that information is better organized using a Smart Folder.

are you going to submit this to Apple? I fully support your idea, column view in Finder is really great but this would make it ever better (not that Finder is all great)

Sorry for you. My point was, I know where EVERY file on my machine is located. Even the most obscure ones which no one knows about. BTW, my friend is "retarded" and I take SERIOUS offense to your use of the 'tard. A*hole

OS X DOES automatically detect each item. And OF COURSE it doesn't prompt for a driver disk and show an annoying message. The drivers come pre-installed, therefore there is no need for them to be prompted. If I go buy a USB hub and a USB drive, I don't have to wait for Windows to install nothing and prompt me to restart. It just works. THINK DIFFERENT!!

Actually, iPhoto CoverFlow is a great idea. I browse my photos that was in the Finder, Why not in iPhoto or Aperture?
