wcco.com — A candidate has won election to a North Carolina county board -- despite being dead for a month. Sam Duncan was the top vote-getter Tuesday for two seats on Union County's Soil and Water Conservation board. County elections officials knew of Duncan's death, but no one told the voters.

Careful with the partisanship, it would seem that all those dead democrats found someone who is just like them.

There are a few reasons someone might vote for a dead guy:1- Didn't know he's dead2- Respect for the good things he'd done3- Want to see his replacement be someone similar to him4- They'd rather vote for an honest dead man than his crooked competition5- Any combination thereof

you can also look at it like... people in that region would have much rather have seen a democrat in office.. therefore.. they didn't even bother to research the democrat or attend the usual local meetings and press engagements.. they just knew all along that they'd vote for whatever dem. ran for office... they just really didn't want a republican in office.. this could be looked at as ignorant.. or sad... either way.. i guess it sucks..
