I agree with jer2eydevil88 - the problem is not the artists, especially not those who have been tied into this RIAA representation before the reactionary mindset came about, but rather with the organization's typically heavy handed tactics. They will make a hundred deals with the Napsters (and soon to be Microsoft) of the world - though they would never think about doing that kind of licensing before - and will simply try their best to keep everything else an abomination until it suits them to let it loose. The solution is not really to, as MrHolla puts it, boycot their products - because there is no product. It's an association, and reason really is the only tool. Now, whether or not we can get off our asses to do that is another question.
When you call, ask if they can provide a dollar amount from the lawsuits they have settled that have gone to the artists that they are protecting. (I'm guessing its a number close to zero.)
Seems pretty unintrusive to sign up for an account, just give them a spammable email address if you're concerned and don't give your phone number. But hell, why not...Brad Buckles
Well, they're releasing the office numbers of those execs. Which unfortunately means the secretaries get the majority of the beating, but such is the way of things.
