daringfireball.net— With that in mind, I’m issuing the following challenge to David Maynor and Jon Ellch: If you can hijack a brand-new MacBook out of the box, it’s yours to keep. Rules and challenge on the site.

I don't disagree with DF's overall statement that the hack story is BS, but come on, let's stop beating this dead horse.I know I'll get dugg down into the nether regions of Hell for saying this, but Mac fans overrate DF. It seems to me that he gets a halo effect for saying things (in great detail) that Mac users already agree with.I ACTUALLY AGREE with just about all of the things Gruber says, BUT I don't think much of his writing. Unlike most fanboys, I don't think he's a genius. To me, his "essays" come off as second rate college papers.
Well, then, I suppose they'd have to plug it in, don't you think? Unless you meant that the batteries in the MacBooks suck in terms of battery life, which would be false. They are as good or bad as any other Sony-made batteries, and Windows machines are using those too.
Fordi, the point is that both the Washington Post blogger Krebs, and ZdNet's George Ou both claim they also have proof (thru Maynard) that a stock MacBook was hacked (just not shown). Its not about the videotaped demo, or really, even about the two hackers. Its two journalists who are reporting its true, so its news. And if its hackable that easily out of the box, I sure as hell want to know as well.
Anytime someone says "take my word for it", I usually don't. Your word means absolutely nothing to me. Show me what you are talking about. Write it out. Take the time. Else, don't bother to ask for my confidence. I work in IT myself, and, if I were to tell any of my managers to "take my word for it", I'd probably be laughed at, and told to go back to school. Facts leave no room for speculation or anecdotes to sneak in.
Where did that response even come from. First of all, we are not talking about another OS right now. We are talking about the Mac OS. And, if a Mac fanboy came in here and started bashing Microsoft in order to change the subject completely and put the focus somewhere else, I'd say the same to them. The person you based said nothing to imply an agenda. Perhaps you read it wrong, and got your own idea of what he was trying to say. That seems to be the case. Play nice, re-read what he wrote, and reply back with an "I apologize, I misread what you said".
