I found that hoax video and researched it after seeing it just to be certain it was fake. Ironically I found that Comcast made mention of putting cameras in their boxes to know "who is watching tv" so they can offer tailored content (maybe the inspiration for this urban legend?). Comcast has since adjusted it to the cameras would be for gesture functions like the wii, not to spy on people. Either way, cameras in cable boxes are coming, not sure what to make of that.

Uh yeah... because our government would never do something like set up secret listening rooms in AT&T switching offices to monitor our phone calls. People called me an idiot when I said that was going on five years before it was found out that that's exactly what was going on.
