digitalbattle.com— For the week ending May 28 Japanese hardware sales figures show that the Nintendo DS outsold the PSP by a factor of 10. The DS Lite sold 295,103 units, while the PSP managed to sell 27,191.

of course it will, it's a new product with a new hot game out. if the redesigned the PSP and launched it with a new GTA then it will see a nice sales spike as well. The point is, the PSP is not having it's ass handed to them like people are trying to get us to believe. I think it's doing quite well considering the fact that this is sony's first venture into the handheld gaming world (where nintendo has DOMINATED with the gb and gba) and they are really sucking in Japan.
I love how you say this: >> DS games are the same crap they have always been. And then follow it up with this gem:>> Good PSP games -- Grand Theft Auto - Liberty Stories - Tomb Raider - TekkenAll PS2 ports and/or retreads. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black.
That's like really poor and gay on your behalf... can't make your own arguement, so you go and jack someone elses? That's a beautiful insight in to your life...
Sterling, I'm not too sure what you're trying to say there or why. But it may be a good idea to not make your age nearly as evident.Silly boy. There's no need to be a rude diggwhore.
PSP numbers are unreliable. Any PSP system you see for sale in a store somewhere can be subtracted from that 17 million figure. I'm assuming any of the defective units could be as well.Regardless, Sony could outsell the DS, but if nobody is buying games for it, it's not really a success. From sales figures, it looks like there are a lot of PSP owners who only have 1 or 2 games.
These stories are really getting old. Every week there's a new DS vs PSP story. Everyone knows the DS has sold more than the PSP. Let's move on, please! No Digg. I'm tired of this stuff.
I just came back from Tokyo. finding a DS lite is like finding a needle in a haystack. They're extremely rare and each major electronics store shows a sign saying they don't have any. I did manage to find one in the weirdest food/electronics mall in the hole of a street in Roppongi.and yes PSPs were readily avaiable (all over the place, black and white)
The only (and I mean ONLY) reason I don't like my DS Lite is because I fear cracked hinges. That's it.Maybe someday when Breath of Fire III comes out in America, or you can somehow hack your PSP to play DS games (what, just a thought) and vice versa, _then_ and ONLY then will I buy a PSP.Go Nintendo.
