defectivebydesign.org — DRM left the video game Borderlands unplayable for people who bought it in stores for days. "Defective by Design" is now running a "1-star review" campaign to remind Borderlands buyers about the dangers of DRM.

I certainly won't be buying this now. Dumb companies need to learn that their dollars will go elsewhere when they can't fulfil their promises.

Dugg down for bad title. The game isn't out yet and the DRM won't let those who somehow got it early, not to be able to play it until the release day. Game will be out soon in a few days. I hate DRM as much as the next joe-blow but come on guys at defectivebydesign. How about find a better target.

My question is, was the street date broken with the PC version, or was it not supposed to be released for another 6 days? If the PC version of the game was sold earlier than it should have been, I don't see anything to protest against. However, if the PC version was supposed to be released 6 days before the console versions, then this is a good campaign.

If they can turn it off before the game is released, they can turn it off after. Handing control over your computer over to a company like this is absolutely no good. Now is the time to stand up.

When are companies going to learn. Apparently, never.
