if you think the speakers would sound bad ... well I am not sure the enclosure is the biggest problem. The speakers themselves are for cars and the amp is home made and looks quite weak (based on capacitor size). But it beats all those computer speaker we all love for sure.
You could wire 2, 4 ohm speakers in a parallel per channel like what he did there (at least I hope he did) so that way he can match the resistance with the amp.

Speakers don't need to have a "hole." There is no need for the air inside to get out, the vibrating speaker will just compress the air inside and provide additional damping for the woofers.
