I wasn't. He is being anal about it though. The point is most people will already have a printer, so it's not really going to cost $200 to them. And the audience of Photojojo is likely to already have Photoshop, whether legally or otherwise...
Etch-a-Sketch: $1.99 (Flea Market)Photo Printer & Paper: $0.00 (Use Office Depot's) Photoshop CS2: $0.00 (Cracked version)Wasting your time on a lame project like this: priceless.
So I have a question, would you just set the image/canvas size in photoshop to be 8"x10" then, since that is what the printout would be. Then you would just center your "sketched" image, which is around 7"x5". ???If it were a 7?x5? image/canvas, wouldn't printing it out result in it being "blown up" ??? I was thinking of taking the image to an instant photo printer like at Walmart. Thoughts on this?
Clievers -Make a 7" x 5" in photoshop, and when you print it - make sure its not set to "scale to fit. Then if you put a standard 8.5" x 11" piece of photo paper in your printer, it'll print the 7"x 5" and you can just cut the extra away. You'll need to trim it and not simply center the whole thing - because it'll be too wide to fit under the frame. If you want to use a Walmart / store photo printer, also make a 7" x 5" file and print it as a 7" x 5" (or 5" x 7" as they'll call it)
Thanks. I never even thought of that. I ended up creating an 8x10 image then putting a 7x5 photo in it. Then I cut the excess off. Stupid me, never even thought of the standard photo sizes, 4x6, 5x7, etc. LOL! Spent $5 on the 8x10 when it probably would have only cost $0.80 or so for the 5x7. Oh well, next time.Anyways, I did two of them up last week. Not too bad. Need to work with it some more to get it even more "sketch-y". Still a little detailed right now.

Your friends will be more impressed that you can make an Etch-a-Sketch drawing without it being one continuous line.

I don't have Photoshop! What other programs can you use to do this?
