gizmodo.com — Verizon FiOS fiber optic web connection packages, which range from $40 per month for 5Mbps to 30Mbps for $180 (extra for TV and phone service!) - Hong Kong residents can now get a whopping 100Mbps fiber optic connection for a mere $48.50 a month. And that's the entry-level package. [C'mon DIGG let's get this out there and get an explanation!!!]

okay, fine. then why can't they do HFC (hybrid fibre-coxial) using DOCSIS 2.0 since all those people already have cable tv lines?

fact is, if you were to cut the red tape from the labor unions and government holdings to allow verizon and other companies to storm in with cheap prices, the economy would take a bigger s**t than ever witnessed before. we'd have to topple the entire structure of how business is run in this country to make ends meet, which is not a bad idea but it is certainly not something that would be widely accepted or pretty to live through.

I honestly can't wait to get FiOS in my state. Of course it will be years before I even see it near me since I live in BFE. A 100 Mbps connection. Music and Movie piracy would run rampid. Download the latest movie in 60 seconds. Wow. I just can't wait. Even though a pirate would do that, imagine what would happen to television. Consider it dead and gone. Everything would be on the internet.http://www.mysteryautoincome.com

If the states were built like Hong Kong and New York City where everybody was stacked in a 50 story buildings the cost of retrofitting would drop by leaps and bounds. Besides the fact that most of their cities have been rebuilt do to earthquakes, tsunami's and just plain poor construction. In greenfield areas(new construction)costs are way cheaper thus enable lower rates but not by much.Fiber there would also fall under a necessity do to the fact of billions of people and trying to handle that load on copper. Also copper is very heavy per foot. Then having to pull it up high rises to all those people. Infrastructure is the number one cost of any project. Material, permits, insurance and labor are also expensive. That is why cities, counties and states let them fall to disrepair. They don't have the money. Well they do, it's just being spent on social services for illegals. This is also a country where our government imposes taxes on everything, even things that sit idle. These companies have to make up costs somewhere. Guess where? The end user. Take a look at your utility bills, all of them. See all those taxes? They didn't create them, the government did. So like everybody else, they pass the buck. Ask yourself this. Why is a Mercedes here an expensive luxury car but in dirty middle eastern countries they're nothing more than taxis? Because people are willing to lay out the dough to buy them. Everybody here is crying foul to Verizon but do you know they're fighting many FCC regulations to gain accessability to provide services which inturn creates competition that lowers rates. Here in California they're retrofitting buildings free of costs to owners which translates to free for tenants to enable people to get FIOS to the prem. No othe telecom is doing this. This is fiber right to your house which is a private path just as the copper pair is or was. Not a shared system like cable is. Cable companies are fighting hard to keep phone companies out of the entertainment business. Phone companies pay no one off. If you think they do you're an idiot. Have you noticed all the flack over adult content and how Tv studios and radio stations do everything to avoid getting fined? That's the FCC behind that. Howard Stern, Imus and all other broadcasters would be still on the radio saying whatever they want, Janet Jacksons boob would be at every halftime show if they were paid off.PDXCHRIS you don't know what you're talking about. Phone companies as any utility have service areas. Cable companies are the ones that bid on contracts for service in city zones. It's because they're considered an entertainment company instead of communications which has very different criteria to follow. Also Qwests owner was charged with fraud for over valuing the stock and he is jailed and paid heavy fines for doing so. QWEST is now owned by ATT another telcom giant because of this fiasco. You can have a thousand jacks in you house if you want. If you want the phone company to install them, yes they will charge you for it just like the A/C guy, the mechanic for your car, the computer technician, the window man. Nobody works for free pal. If you only had a clue to what you were talking about. Phone companies pay fines for lousy service. They also don't have twice as many service people. Fact is like all companies, they're letting people go through attrition. When some one retires they don't replace them, making fewer workers work harder and longer. Just like outsourcing to other countries. Alot of people on this site need to take business classes and learn what goes into owning and running a business. You don't just say you're going to do something and it happens. There are road blocks at everycorner. There's alot more going on and went on than you just sitting your ass in front of your PC and logging on.KDs1. Let it be known that tampering with telephone equipment that is not inside the four walls of your home is a Federal crime and always guarantees prison time. Why is cable cheaper than Phone company DSL? Because they're s**tting their pants right now trying to figure out how to compare to fiber optics to each and every house within service areas. Att, formerly SBC formerly Pac Bell wishes they did fiber to the prem. Instead they stopped short at the hub. Cable companies will never do it. Why do they charge what they do? Because you'll pay for it if you want it. Why does an Apple ipod, iphone or MAC cost hundreds of dollars when obviously it only cost tens to make? Because you'll pay for it. When you can go into a Verizon, Sprint, ATT and get any other phone free with service. Of course you're paying for the phone through service fees but you pay $300 for an iphone then monthly on top of that. Why buy Apple ipod when you can buy some other brand that's cheaper? Same technology, records music, plays music, connects to same computers to do so. Because you'll pay for it. Ever notice G8 protestors are wearing name brand clothes, hell forget name brand, they're wearing clothes, but yet protest capitolism? How does that work? Listen folks, nobody makes you do anything but pay taxes. Again that's not the retailers,it's the government. The mind is a terrible thing to waste,so is the breath you use when you don't know what you're talking about.

Maybe there’s an explanation: Our technology here is no way as sophisticated as over there, maybe. Give it sometime, and maybe we'll be at that level… I’m not surehttp://theinternetviralmarketing.blogspot.com/
