dailymail.co.uk— The bitter winter afflicting much of the Northern Hemisphere is only the start of a global trend towards cooler weather that is likely to last for 20 or 30 years.

@Ferretman: And? What does that have to do with me?Furthermore, how does that in any way improve the credibility of the OPs link? Seems like it degrades it even further, if anything.
Whatever dude -- you pass this off as if the scientists are throwing out poorly investigated notions and that it was Climatologists making the mistakes.... they well could make such a mistake -- but they didn't. Newsweek and non-professional speculators had these theories. It's just more crap thrown on the wall that has no bearing what-so-ever, and people like you KNOW THIS. You also seem very familiar with the link and are aware that it's just stuff people were saying in 1970.So one day, when some kid ask; "why didn't people pay attention to the problems with the ocean and he weather?" Be sure to mention you were some a$shole blogging on the web and throwing out doubt when you KNEW it was bogus.Betraying the human race, and that would include America, kind of annoys me. I don't know -- call me old fashioned. You know better, and you are lying to me and everybody else when you say that you don't, and when one day you and your denying buddies finally, admit to yourselves reality, you will have no other group to blame but yourselves. Wikipedia entries are not the problem here and neither is your memory.Just keep digging that karmic hole.
@Speed - Didn't actually SAY it had anything to do with you, did I? Did you somehow read it that way?I just noted a general inconsistent position of most Warmites. If it doesn't apply to you and you don't listen to ANY meteorologists when it comes to global warming that's good to know--I don't necessarily agree with your position, but it's got validity.Good for you!
_What cooling trend_?2009 was the fifth warmest year on record. This year is two weeks old. Northern europe had its coldest week in 15-30 years, meanwhile southern europe had an all-time heat record, and Australia had it's second highest heat record ever. Where's your trend?
It's like arguing with over-zealous religious people. If it warms up, it's because of global warming. If it cools down, it's because of global warming. If the climate stays the same, it's because of global warming.Let's just call it "Allah's will"If it warms up, it's because Allah wills it to warm up.If it cools down, it's because Allah wills it to cool down.If it stays the same, it's because Allah wills it to stay the same.
Sadly, all of the original East Anglia data has been inexplicably thrown away, invalidating the science behind it. As you know how science works, you understand that essentially all of the conclusions drawn from that data are now invalid as it can NEVER be reanalyzed. Of course why would anyone question the motives behind "respected" scientists "losing" decades of climate data their careers are based on?
What lazy, sloppy journalism. Professor Latif was taken out of context in that article. He has actually stated, "It comes as a surprise to me that people would try to use my statements to try to dispute the nature of global warming. I believe in manmade global warming. I have said that if my name was not Mojib Latif it would be global warming." Oops! And the National Snow and Ice Data Center acknowledges climate change. You'll have to do better than that, deniers.

Warming trend for the last 18 000 years, unless you mean that in the most general "interglacials are warmer than glacials" kind of way.

because your record high temperatures are evidence of global warming, but our record lows somehow aren't evidence to the contrary. interesting.
