Freakin' people, read through at least some of the posts before commenting. Crap....anyway, like I said before, it's real, and I even posted a website that had some stuff on it. AND if you looks through it, you'll notice that there was a kitten that had very enlarged eyes, but didn't seem to have eyelids. But in fact, it did; they were transparent to the point where you could see his eyes from outside of them. Can't find the post? Search "Trianth". Go to the site.
but OMG kittens dont open their eyes for weeks how is this possible[/sarcasm]im glad there is proof that its real. i just wish people wouldnt jump and yell photochoped all the time. its really annoying. i hope the people yelling about them not opening their eyes for weeks feel silly now.
As several people have mentioned previously, cyclopia is a rare occurence. It is often associated with some other malformations as a syndrome. In humans, it is often associated with trisomy 13 which is a fatal aneuploidy. After working in the genetics field for 18+ years, I have had the chance to see several human fetuses with cyclopia, so I am not questioning the fact that there could also be a feline with cyclopia.
This is completely true: Part of the condition of cyclopia, in addition to a single eye, and no nose, is no eyelid on the eye. Cy's eye is open because it could not close it.
That's so sad. I had a cat once that had 11 kittens and the runt was born with 2 eye sockets, but only one eye, and that eye was completely white, so she was blind. She was a cool cat though and lived for several years and even had a kitten herself. The funny thing is that her kitten was born with the biggest eyes I have ever seen on a cat. All things are possible, we just don't know why.
I've raised cats all of My life. and just like humans who can be born with teeth , kittens CAN be born with their eyes open. it doesn't happen very often. I've had a total of 4 born like that in 30 years of life. when a kitten first opens their eyes , it is difficult to tell the exact colour of their eyes. this is because their pupils are so enlarged that the blackness overtakes the blue colouring. the blue is actually very dark itself until the kitten is about 4 to 5 weeks old when it lightens up. by the time a kitten is 3 months old , the true colour has either taken over or is finally beginning to show. while a cat's pupil -is- slitted , when the pupil enlarges to that extent it appears to be rounded. and just like humans , the IRIS is round. not the pupil. When you create a breed of animal , there are certain things that can happen. look at dogs for instance. The Dalmation is usually either blind or deaf. sometimes it is both. this is caused by inbreeding too closely. currently I have a cat that is not only missing a toe on her right front paw , but that paw has a deformity that allows her to rotate it as if it were a human wrist. she also has a 2 inch tail. all of the bones for the tail are there , they are just fused together. her mother is half siamese and she looks almost exactly like her mother. I think that her mother got with a relative when she was in heat for the first time. being as Sonya is a cat that is allowed to roam freely , this was unavoidable. Needless to say , Sonya is now fixed. Her daughter , Sadie , is a healthy and happy cat. but this does not always happen when inbreeding occurs. Sometimes the offspring of inbreeding can be completely normal. and then it is -their- offspring that has the problems. or the problems may not occur for several generations. When this breed of cat , the Ragdoll , was created , it was obvious as to how much inbreeding occured. This breed is well known for its high mortality rate because of this. To create a new breed of animal , it is necessary to do -some- inbreeding to get the look or even mannerisms that you wish for in the breed. Sadly this creates problems and even deaths in the animals. The kitten is still adorable and beautiful. I mourn its passing greatly. But I am angered at the breeders for creating the new cats. They have doomed the poor animals to misery and death. To Me , this is the highest form of Animal Abuse there is. it is cruel and unfair. I hope the Breeders who created these poor lovely souls suffer greatly for their injustice to such innocent beings.
yes their is a rag doll breed, they get huge. males35-40lbs and females get 25-30. on funny animal video's the man holding the huge cat with both arms that's a rag doll. i have been wanting on but there very expensive and they would prob. eat my little dogs lol
I believe that this kitten was born, and the picture might have been real.Though it's obvious the eye isn't real-only a guess. Because kittens do not open their eyes (in this case, eye) a day after birth. If they do, well....different subject. And I have also seen different pictures of Cy, with him being white AND the eye completely shut. This is probably not the owner of the cat and done on photoshop. This photo was obviously not by the owner of CY--- they did art of him being WHITE.R.I.PCyMy cat died of cancer the day he was born.0o0
