You're right, although I think most agree that it would've been perfectly fine to use the actual 7-yr old singer in the ceremony. She's just a kid for crying out loud.

While i'm glad NBC pointed out the fireworks were "animated" you have to hold them accountable for the decption about the singer lip sync'ing. Of course "this isn't anything that goes on regulrly with performances in the U.S."... which is still no excuse for deception. NBC seemed intent to "play up" the fact that she was 9 and singing... if it's worth mentioning... let alone playing up... then it's important enough to tell the truth... in short, a lie is a lie. That said... I already have a very low opinion of NBC, the olympic comittee, and the olympic politics in general. This doesn't ruin my day, it just further informs just why I despise the olympics. If I watch them at all it'll probably be select clips off piratebay or mininova that probably weren't covered by NBC anyway. Why bittorrent? because NBC and the olympic comitte have been waging a DMCA take down notice war on youtube and other sites in many cases assaulting what is clearly fair use... such as the takedown from youtube the protest at the chinese consulate claiming copyright infringement because they made use of the olympic symbol in protesting. Never was their a clearer case of fair use.
