today.reuters.com— "The crocodile has an immune system which attaches to bacteria and tears it apart and it explodes. It's like putting a gun to the head of the bacteria and pulling the trigger,"

The only thing that was on mind after reading the article was that why the f**k did it take them so much time to discover this?I remember in episode 6 of diggnation when Alex mentions that with the technology we have now we should have found a cure to everything..I hope this will help the millions...

Some people argue that virii do not even meet the definition of life (they don't metabolise). The definition of organisms according to Merrium-Webster is:Main Entry: or·gan·ism Pronunciation: 'or-g&-"ni-z&mFunction: noun1 : a complex structure of interdependent and subordinate elements whose relations and properties are largely determined by their function in the whole2 : an individual constituted to carry on the activities of life by means of organs separate in function but mutually dependent : a living being
Living or not living is generally the argument for a virus. I consider them to be organisms because they fill an ecological niche, but would be hard pressed to call them living. Would also like to point out that cells do not have to have a nucleus and organelles. Most of the "cells" on this planet do not have a nucleus or organelles. Regardless, a cure for HIV would be awesome.
Well ... Heard off ABC-NEWS four years ago (Armed Forces Radio, Camp Doha) while traveling to Aljaber Air Base, Kuwait that researchers have found a "Cure for AIDS". Tears (including urine) of a pregnant woman kills AIDS instantly. They didn't say helps fight aids, they said cures it. This sounds much more compatible to humans interested in fix now than later. Then, announcement said, "Pharmaceutical" companies will work on synthetic version so correct amount can be administered. Sounds like they desire to cash $$$ on opportunity by stating only they can approve quantity / source of cure (tears). Think about it. If someone you knew had aids, wouldn't you recommend they travel to Philippines and pay pregnant (province) girls say $10 each for her tears and inject it by oneself? Obviously, anyone in their right mind would try this route - wouldn't you?

The clock statement, by the way, was an example of a set and almost unanimously accepted definition.
