When it comes to the iPod nano, people aren't paying for storage capacity, they're paying for looks. If i want to look good, I can get a 4gb nano for 250. If want to look hideous, I might look at the ZEN micro.

All of you have fallen into the grips of Apple advertising and believe that Ipod is the best and etc. iRiver can play videos and ZEN Micro totally owns the iPod nano in specs and design, it just looks ugly in the picture but if you purchased it, it would look REAL nice as my friend has one and it looks AWESOME. You Ipoo people are just so ignorant sometimes, prasing and patronizing the soon-to-be Microsoft.

Just to hit home the main point I was trying to make AAC and MP3 are capable of the same sound quality. In theory AAC should be able to achieve the same sound quality with less size. But with MP3 being such a mature format and thanks to the developers of lame being so dedicated they have honed and fine tuned their encoder to the point that moving to AAC is pointless.

I'm a chick and I think the iriver and the zen micros are way cuter than the ipods. I have looked at all the info and all the specs. Buy what ever you like. I dont like the look of the apple products and it may be a totally female way of looking at it but I'll buy what ever I think is prettier. :) PS I know alienware stuff is great but damn that player is ugly.

Having owned a Iriver (battery died not replaceable) which I want to replace, I recently purchasing a Zen Sleek (bad screen) which was exchanged 3 days later for a 20 gig Ipoo (lock ups) which was exchanged 5 days later for a 4 gig a Nano (just plain sucks) which I finally returned 4 days later for a return. I have learned all of the companies Creative, Apple, and Iriver need to get their act together. Creative suffers from software glitches, shoddy workmanship, and no support. When a screen is coming off a brand new player something is wrong. Apple also suffers from software glitches, shoddy workmanship, and again no support. You just touch a iPod and you put fingerprints and scratches on it. iTunes is a crap piece of software. You should not need to run your music through software to get it onto the player. Creative and River got this right. Apple also needs to learn that AAC and Mpeg4 are not the only format out there. You idiots saying Apple supports MP3 are full of s**t. I have a 20+ gig music collection which is in both wma and mp3 format. iTunes took 6 hours to convert 3 gigs to aac/mpeg4 and yes it converted the mp3's to aac/mpeg4. In the process it degraded the music. After spending 6 hours trying to get 3 gigs onto the player I come to find out that I also have to re-tag all of the music because Apple decided to use the track number to sort the music instead of the track name so all of the music is not in alphabetical order. It should not be this f**king hard to put music onto a MP3 player. With Creative and Iriver it is load the driver and then drag and drop your music onto the player through Windows Explorer. No piece of crap software. And guess what, the music is sorted alphabetically without re tagging. I dont need a job. I already have one. The store told me the Ipod that was locking up was probably bad to they talked me into the Nano. I just bought a couple of Cd's so I thought I would go the direct CD route with the Nano. After spending 30 plus minutes trying to get the music into iTunes, I learned that the Nano has no bass and all music on it sounds like it is coming from a tin can. Yes, I have decent headphones. Bose actually. Read the threads on boards like Cnet and ZDnet and you will see people are trying to get rid of their Nano's because the Nano is a piece of crap. You people are buying into the hype. The Shuffle actually has better sound quality than the Nano. You idiots are like the idiot in the store who didn't know what a OGG file format is. And this idiot is selling MP3 players. After spending time with all of the players I have to give it to Creative. The sleek sounded so much better then the iPod and it is so much easier to use then the iPod. I just cant accept the shoddy workmanship. When returning the piece of crap Nano I looked at the 8 gig Zen Micro Photo in the store. $249.99. I just don't get it. Between the ghetto lights and the lack of usb mass storage I think they are going to have a hard time getting rid of them. Yes, it is HD not flash.

First of all, i would just like to say that i own a creative zen micro. You guys really need to chech your facts. To the the person who said you would need a driver disk to move files that is not true. you can use the zen micro as a flash disk on mac, linux, pc, bsd, whatever anything that supports thumb drives. Also many of you seem to be under the impression that the micro is large. it is actually smaller than the ipod mini, which was the current apple ipod competitor to it at the time. also the zen micro has a 98 decibel signal to noise ratio, which is much much better than the ipods 93 decibel rating. So if you want sounds quality, go for the zen micro. One thing that has always annoyed me about ipods is the click wheel. the buttons around the edge just dont work well enough. one of the good features of the creative zen micro is that it doesnt have any buttons except for the on/off switch. the backlight on ipods is another thing. an ipod the backlight swiches off and you have to turn it back on? i mean really wtf? on a zen micro every input turns the backlight on and it still manages to get more battery life than the nano. And the backlight illuminates the touchpad which allows you to see what your doing in the dark. some people seem to think that the creative is way ugly or too thick or whatever. Well, to put it bluntly, who gives a s**t? its a mp3 player it will spend 95 percent of the when its not charging in your pocket or in your bag or purse. Also it you want to make a zen micro pretty, you can mod an altoids tin to make a case that the mp3 player fits in perfectly. Many of you who say the creative's menu system stinks obviously have not used it. to me scrolling up and down makes way more sense than scrolling in a circle. also the ipod doesnt have any drop-down menu which is really annoying. i supposed thats just me because im used to my creative. On the issue of the stability or unstability of itunes or the creative software i have a story to tell. When a new version of itunes came out (i think it was either 5.9 ish or 6.0) i downloaded it and proceeded to install. i finished installing and had to leave. i turned off my computer and the next day i came back and (i dont know why) i decided to peruse the trash. Lo and Behold, my entire itunes music library had been moved to the trash! i moved it back, and found myself wondering, how can a program that deletes customers music claim to be easy to use and simple? the creative driver is just a simple little app that you open from my computer. you can burn a cd to the mp3 player or transfer files. I have never once had a single problem with it. ok then time to do homework.
