news.independent.co.uk — A statistical analysis of the results revealed a clear example of Darwinian natural selection in action. "If the rise and fall of the peppered moth is one of the most visually impacting and easily understood examples of Darwinian evolution in action, it should be taught. It provides after all the proof of evolution."

Because science works and is useful. Please give me a single use of Creationism?

And Creationism can? What a load of crock.

You shouldn't believe it. What you should do is RTFA, then RTF paper. Then you don't need to make ignorant assumptions about the study or the character and competence of the scientists who carried it out.

It's impossible to prove god doesn't exist. That's not what we're trying to do. We just want to see truth and logic win out over fantasy and denial. You try abandoning a belief held for hundreds of years by all your ancestors. It's difficult for people to accept that their own parents might believe something that is wrong. The alternative is to believe it or profess to believe it themselves. As evidence for evolution mounts it becomes even more difficult for people to admit they were wrong because of just how wrong it turns out they were. It takes a tremendous amount of intellectual virtue and character to take this step, and it's something those of us who have taken it should be very proud of.

Theory: a proposed explanation whose status is still conjectural, in contrast to well-established propositions that are regarded as reporting matters of actual fact. That doesn't leave much up to "semantics". Note the term "contrast".

Science still calls it the THEORY of Evolution. Such as, I have a theory that my boss may hates me, but I have no scientific proof that he actually does....

digg because it's true

Yes I did read the article. If you could open your mind a little bit you could see the truth. And by the way . . . the devil didn't bury dinosaur bones to test us. Nobody with half a brain in their heads believe that.

A couple of things... First off, people still believe in evolution? Second, do atheists even know what they believe? Third, how in the world can a bible believing creationist integrate evolution? Let's take one at a time... 1) People still believe in evolution? Of course the point of the question is to show what evolution really is... a "belief in something", aka. religion. So evolutionism is a religion, just as creationism is a religion (except that your tax dollars go to support it... oh wait a minute, what about separation between church and state... oh that's right, it only separation of 'your' church and state -- of course the separation of church and state doesn't actually exist, I'm just using post-modern sarcasm). So what is the difference, well evolution and creation are diametrically opposed, so they do not have anything in common... that's a big difference. For example **: "Sun before Earth" or "Earth before Sun"... "land before oceans" or "oceans before land"... "Sun before light" or "light before Sun"... "death brought man into the world" or "man brought death into the world"... "In the beginning, nothing" or "In the beginning, God"... "Man created god" or "God created man"...etc. My point... someone is definitely wrong. So to answer my own question, of course people still believe in evolution; most people (especially our children) don't have a choice in our current system of indoctrination, which destroys any possibility of actually thinking for themselves. 2) Do atheists even know what they believe? Well if a theist is a person who believes in a god, then an atheist is some who doesn't believe in a god. So let's look at this rationally... in order to KNOW (or believe, which is based on some type of knowledge) that there is no god, you would need to have an incredible depth of knowledge about everything and have been everywhere in the Universe, including all of the different dimensions... wait a minute, someone with those characteristics sounds like, a god. So atheists, who would need to be god in order to know that there is no god, actually deny themselves by definition of the word. That is a unversal negative and a paradox. Good luck with that one. 3) How in the world can a bible believing creationist integrate evolution? This is heresy. I'm sorry if I offend anyone with this, but I'm trying to be salt and light...salt makes things taste good, but it also hurts when you put it on a cut... and this view is not compatible with biblical teaching. So what's the big deal? The big deal is, if evolution is true, the Genesis account is false.... if Genesis is false (take a look at my ** above), then the credibility of Jesus is at stake because he quoted Genesis 25 times, and nearly every book in the bible quotes Genesis. Which do you think is worse, being wrong... or being wrong and a hypocrite?

What i dont understand is how this is proof against intelligent design... you are basing your arguements on different colored moths (still moths though) whose presence fluxuates back and forth due to enviromental changes.... are they not still moths? i mean, yes it shows natural selection (to a certain extents), but it in no way "foils" the creationist.

Color changes in the peppered moth have absolutely nothing to do with evolution – nor does natural selection. Natural selection and evolution are two entirely different processes. Extrapolating a “proof” from the peppered moth is meaningless. Check outwww.eloquentbooks.com/ManAndHisPlanet.html
