nationstates.net— NationStates is a nation simulation game. You create your own country, fashioned after your own ideals, and care for its people. Either that or you deliberately torture them. It's really up to you.

Meh, I stopped playing this game a while ago. The "issues" started to repeat themselves way too much. The United Socialist States of Telesto is a huge, socially progressive nation, notable for its complete lack of prisons. Its compassionate, intelligent population of 950 million enjoy extensive civil freedoms, particularly in social issues, while business tends to be more regulated. It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Education, Social Welfare, and Healthcare. The average income tax rate is 100%. The private sector is almost wholly made up of enterprising fourteen-year-old boys selling lemonade on the sidewalk, although the government is looking at stamping this out.Same-sex marriages are increasingly common, police spend their Saturday nights breaking up illegal street races, libraries are bulldozed to make way for internet cafés, and scientists regularly clone human beings for research purposes. Crime is totally unknown. Telesto's national animal is the lemur, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the peso.
The Anarcho-Syndicalist Commune of Borkton is a massive, socially progressive nation, ruled by Kira with a fair hand, and remarkable for its sprawling nuclear power plants. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, intelligent population of 1.073 billion hold their civil and political rights very dear, although the wealthy and those in business tend to be viewed with suspicion. The medium-sized, corrupt, liberal government concentrates mainly on Education, although Healthcare and Social Welfare are secondary priorities. The average income tax rate is 12%, but much higher for the wealthy. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Uranium Mining, Basket Weaving, and Furniture Restoration industries.Racial and religious segregation has become rife as the various groups are loathe to mingle, all-natural foods are becoming a major fad, the government regularly hires contractors to construct high rise apartments, and schoolchildren have twice-weekly sex education classes. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is moderate, probably because of the country's utter lack of prisons. Borkton's national animal is the giraffe, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is seeds.

I played this awhile ago and its fun for about a month and then you just constantly get the same issues over and over. Then it gets boring and I quit.
