It's not as pure as it soundshttp://www.craigslist.org/about/press/ebay.stake.html - EBay Buys Stake in Craigslist

oh and I do. by selling the craigslist he would have nothing to gain. He doesn't need the extra money, and they most likely wouldn't add any benefit to the site itself.

"fe2dell: Umm, does he not realize he sold out already by selling a big stake to eBay??? C'mon now..."I guess that reading comprehension is not your forte."Craigslist is 25 percent owned by eBay after one of the shareholders who helped to set up the site in the 1990s sold his stake in 2004." He did not "sold" anything, an ex employee/founder did, what part of this did you not comprehend?

While I admire his stance and his attitude towards the big corporations its amazing to think what he could do with all the money if he sold Craigslist. There are many people in the world who benefit enormously from a small injection of cash into the right charity organisation. Now Craig can do what the hell he likes with his money and I'm not saying he should cash in and help others but when he says "If you're living comfortably, what's the point of having more?" Well, why not help people who have nothing and give them a chance?

Free seems to be the way to go when getting people to trade and connect on the web. New web startup http://whatsonmybookshelf.com does the same with books. I'd love to see libraries deconstructed in place of people just trading what they arlready have.Craigslist is in desparate need of expansion to other cities!

Craigslist is one of the best free classified ads sites out there. I am building my own version of free classifieds site http://www.jihoy.com that hopefully, will address the issue of trust, when doing transactions on free classified ads site. Craig is my idol.
