ophcrack.sourceforge.net — Ophcrack is a brute-force cracker of pre-computed hashes called rainbow tables. Simply burn the CD, pop it into the victim's computer, Ophcrack will boot into a Linux shell, extract the password file, and find a match. For more information on rainbow tables, see Rainbow table - Wikipedia

Use passwords 16 characters or more in length and it'll be much harder as Windows won't store it as an LM hash.

You can use windows password reset disk which you can create it youself on Windows to reset your windows admin password.A password reset disk is useful and safe and free.
It is fits all people who use Windows XP and further versions.
If we forgot create it for our password, don't worry about forgot password that we can use a software to recover it.I have read an article about a software which can recover windows password easily within several minutes.

I would suggest you don't be a dick. I know that's a tough one to puzzle out right now, but some day, after you grow your manhair, you'll see how easy it is and how it pays off.

Ok, I understand that it can be useful in cases you have the authority, but if I read the comments, people are not even trying to use that cover. "Very useful when you want to access someones computer without changing their password.""I have used it several times on my roommate's computer since he is an a-hole and won't let me use it unless he is in the room.""I agree that resetting the password is simpler (say it's your own computer and you've forgetten the password), but sometimes you might want to retrieve a password without anyone be any the wiser..."On this post, there is a discussion on different moral perspectives, http://digg.com/security/Company_helps_parents_spy_on_kids_and_control_their_computer_remotelyHow come not on this post?

I have downloaded windows password key 8.0. It is a very quick and useful utility for resetting passwords. It not only supports XP, 2000, and NT, I have personally tested it with Vista Home Premium and Ultimate. It works perfectly to reset any local user account to a blank password.Just an easy to use bootable CD/DVD . It can also be used on a USB Flash Drive. http://www.lostwindowspassword.com/
