torrentfreak.com — The anti-piracy lobby has been putting pressure on ISPs to act against customers who download copyright infringing content. Thus far, most ISPs have simply forwarded the takedown requests they receive, but Cox Communications is taking it one step further, by disconnecting alleged copyright infringers.

This happened to me about 6 months ago. They turned off my service so that I had to call them so they could warn me not break copyright laws. They turn my service back on and I didnt download anymore movies

Say what you will about the program, but It seems to do the job just fine. Cox firewalled my connection and posted up a copyright infringment letter two times within a month. Since I've started running PG2, there hasn't been any interuptions. My d/l speed remains fast as well. If you have any better programs for p2p protection, let me know.

Of course I knew they'd eventually terminate the account. I'm just letting people know so if they're in a similar situation they can take into account my experience to see if it's worth it to try to use ipfilters after they've been caught once or twice.

I have cox cable and internet. The first time I was cut off, I called the 800 number and they turned my internet back on. Two weeks later...randomly...my internet stopped working again. I hadn't been torrenting or downloading anything from torrent sites so I knew something was up. I didn't get any message this time...simply my internet would not connect. After calling the tech support, they claimed that I had violated the copyright policy and I had my internet deactivated. They told me the program that caused the termination of my internet and it was the same file I had downloaded two weeks ago. I had deleted the file before my internet was reactivated the first time. I explained that I had already called the 800 number and had resolved this problem. They didn't care. They wouldn't transfer me to the "abuse" line and that I had to call them myself. After calling the 800 number, they said they didn't even know why my internet was disabled and reactivated it. No apologies mind you. I almost lost my sh*t. The tech guy said "I don't know why cox is doing this. This is just so ridiculous"Two months later I was slapped with a second disconnect. I wasn't seeding any files. It was for a single download. Stay away from cox cable.

I think comcast is worse but I've been living in JApan for a year where p2p connection on avg is 3 mb to the second. So I am quite spoiled now :D

yea man its not impossible to do any of this stuff we can build our own fiber network if we can get enough people to contribute and pool our resources together. It's quite possible. f**king even if it was done by just digg users. My god I live in a city of 1.5 million people. Imagine if each person in my city gave me 5 dollars. I would be instantly rich.

dude we moved into an apartment that didn't even have internet, and we got a note from Cox with our names on it, saying that got a DMCA report. I called them, and told them its only been a wk since we moved in, and we don't have internet service or cable service so we asked them wtf was the letter for.ooo I gotten another one of those letters from disney to cox to me but i was thinking. The only thing I download are fansubbed anime shows. Which is quite legal. Sooooo again I called them up and said wtf I'm not deleting my anime its f**king legal. Then one time they cut off my service because my friend decided to send me his 600 page thesis through a p2p program...
