theaceoffireYou apparently have no idea how many private, subscription based usnet services there are on the net, and most support ssl connections. Giganews is a big one. Or you could use a bittorrent hosting service to download bittorents and then download the files to your computer over a ssl connection. Or you could just use emule. You can find damn near anything on it. Or you could find a private file sharing club that uses password protected FTP servers. The Owner Free File System look really interesting, too. Honestly, short of DRASTICALLY and FUNDAMENTALLY altering the basic architecture of the internet (and don't think companies aren't trying!) there is no real way to eliminate copyright infringement.

@EbulatingI know how to get the files I need. I did not mean to imply I could not, only that I could never use Usenet since comcast has dropped it, so there was no reason for me to worry about it.
