You're absolutely correct about tyrants abusing the people. One other thing to think about. What would happen if a foreign force decided to invade the US? With 4 guns per US citizen and many of them excellent marksmen (and women) the US citizens would make a very formidable force by themselves.
The Constitution didn't have a problem with slavery... the people did.Read - The Rights enumerated in the Constitution had always applied to those considered slaves.
I think people might need an uzi or more if the feds come with tanks, helicopters, and carbines, rounding people up and putting them in camps! They said "... the right to bear arms" and not "... the right to own guns" for a reason.
we do have a right to bear arms but i also believe their are some people who should not own a gun. i believe those who are mentally ill should not own a gun. a friend of mind mentally ill blow is brains out it was horrible for his family he should have never been allowed to have a gun. i believe that law is on the books and it should be in forced the gun safety laws we have know. i use to like to hunt tell i came back from Vietnam know gun fire makes me jump and i him back in Vietnam i suffer from ptsd and not allow to have a gun and i don't want to have one.
Mate I am in Australia and I can tell you public health care is brilliant. Everyone should have the right to get free health care whenever they need...
