news.yahoo.com — A church that wanted to do something special for Hurricane Katrina victims gave a $75,000 house, free and clear, to a couple who said they were left homeless by the storm. But the couple turned around and sold the place without ever moving in, and went back to New Orleans.

I remember going into a Katrina trailer park to help hook up electricity. The trash was filled with boxes of dvd players, big screen tvs and other necessary items from best buy.

@voisine"Is it just a more intelligent community"Yep. Just look at digg, its like Slashdot for kids. This place attracts your average, much too political for their inteligence level, kid whereas I frequently see people who are experts in their field posting on Slashdot.Though I don't know why I'm saying all this, I visit digg far more often than I visit Slashdot now....

It's this kind of stuff that makes people leery about giving.

Stories like this (and others I have heard) have made me skeptical about blindly giving money to charities.digg me down if you must.Another example was after 9/11, lots of money was collected for the "poor" victims, sounds fair enough right? But woman whom had lost her Stock broker husband but had left her very well off and able to look after herself, she was given millions worth of charity. She expressed her "grief" through a compulsive shopping disorder.I'm sorry she lost her husband, but it can happen to anyone. She was well off enough to look after herself, so she didn't deserve the charity. She would have been able to live better then most of the kind people who donated. Thanks, I just needed to rant.
